8th Engineer Support Battalion's support of Operation Iraqi Freedom

Article Abstract:

The 8th Engineer Support Battalion (8th ESB) undertook a task to reform and reorganize its structure as a bridge battalion to support the Operation Iraqi Freedom. The battalion emplaced 10 bridges successfully, supported the destruction of the enemy materials, converted portions of battalions to logistics support and maneuvered over 250 miles into Iraq without the death of a Marine, soldier or sailor.

Aviation integration in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM I: A division air officerEs perspective

Article Abstract:

The issues involving command, control, communications, staffing, equipment, and tactics are discussed. An analysis of the performance in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM I (OIF) indicates that the flexibility and responsiveness of Marine aviation were responsible for the success in OIF and it suggests to learn from the mistakes made.

Strategic small unit leaders

Article Abstract:

Small unit leaders who operate independently for long periods of time play a very important role in combat operations. The noncommissioned officers and the Iraqi Security Force established positive relationships by living together and sharing all duties and dangers.
