A fix on coast guard radar

Article Abstract:

Hughes Aircraft Co was awarded a contract by the Coast Guard and the Navy to provide a new Surface Search Radar (SSR) in Jan 1997. The number of radar systems to be acquired range from 400 to 2,000. The SSR is intended to replace the old AN/SPS 64s and other radar systems which are several times more expensive than the SSR. Among the innovations provided by the SSR is a color display with greater resolution than current radar and an interface featuring pop-up menus, graphic buttons, slides and a track ball.
