A matter of trust: A look at the double standard that needs to be eradicated from our leadership policies

Article Abstract:

The double standards are discussed with which even 20-year-old Marines who are trusted to lead others during operations and make life or death decisions in combat are not trusted when they are in their home stations. The Marine Corps have stifling rules, regulations and procedures supposedly enforced for the safety of young Marines who are expected to identify themselves if they are under 21 years of age and are not allowed to drive at night, but such measures, which suggest mistrust in junior leaders, need to be eradicated.

Lies, damned lies and fitness report statistics

Article Abstract:

The design of the new fitness report system, which was originally created to overcome the inflational bias of the 'old' fitness report, has been questioned as it creates profiles of the writers in order to discount what they are reporting by focusing on the method of reporting. This discounts the efficacy and intent of the Performance Evaluation System (PES).
