Air Defense revisited: German Air Defence

Article Abstract:

The roles and missions of German Air Defence and also the current assets and future-oriented procurement plans are discussed. The ongoing transformation of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) has resulted in the creation of three different categories, which are Response, Stabilization and Support forces, and also the Joint Support service, providing inter- and intra-theatre communications for all services.

The roles and missions of United Kingdom Joint Ground Based Air Defence (joint GBAD) and also the current assets and future-oriented procurement plans are discussed. The joint GBAD Headquarters' vision includes an integrated, coherent and effective joint GBAD force that is trained, equipped, capable and ready to deploy whenever and wherever required in support of UK's foreign and defence policy.

Air Defence-Industrial focus: The urgent and critical need for integrated air and missile defence

Article Abstract:

The necessity for an integrated air and missile defense system to defend one's nation is discussed. The US PATRIOT, the Romanian GEPARD self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) system and SKYSHIELD 35 AHEAD, a fire control system manufactured by the Rheinmetall Defence company Oerlikon Contraves, are some of the ballistic missiles that are involved in various military operations abroad.
