Alive and kicking: Ground-based SIGINT proves its adaptability

Article Abstract:

Signal intelligence (SIGINT) has an important role as significant strategic and tactical intelligence equipment used in military communications in determining enemy intentions and emitter locations. With the increasing use of airborne tools and ground-based SIGINT systems becoming outdated, it remains to be seen whether the traditional battlefield applications of the technology would be able to sustain itself with a wide industrial base supporting it.

British Army now coming to grips with digitization culture

Article Abstract:

The schedule for introduction of the Bowman battlefield digitization system calls for 63 units to be converted per year in order to meet the British ArmyEs 2007 deadline. The Bowman communication element and its ITT Mercury High Capacity Data Radio (HCDR) would provide the British Army with an overarching Tactical Internet, and would take computers down to section level on the battlefield.
