Aviation recapitalization: two program examples

Article Abstract:

The Army's recapitalization program has upgraded the Kiowa and Black Hawk helicopters, increasing their capabilities and effectiveness. It is anticipated that the Comanche will be part of the next generation of helicopters.

Recapitalization

Article Abstract:

The recapitalization, or upgrading and rebuilding, of Army equipment and supplies is underway, as plans are made for the 21st century. The recapitalization effort is necessary if the Army is to be transformed as planned.

Apache Longbow Program brings new technology to army aviation

Article Abstract:

The Army implemented a phased modernization strategy that provides a representative archetype of new technology introduction into a Current Force fleet, with the upgrade of the AH-64A Apache to the AH-64D Apache Longbow. Details of the technology modernization in the case of the Apache are discussed.
