Australia works on Abrams interoperability

Article Abstract:

The Australian Army's new fleet of M1A1 Abrams Integrated Management (AIM) main battle tanks (MBTs) is being modified to ensure compatibility with supporting infantry and interoperability with the service's other armoured vehicle types and extant communications systems. The modification of the M1A1 Abrams AIM fleet is intentionally limited to minimize production lead times and eliminate where possible technical and schedule risk in the acquisition.

German BWB prepares to trial Oerlikon Skyshield C-RAM camp-protection system

Article Abstract:

The German Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (Bundesamt fur Wehrtechnik and Beschaffung, BWB) will carry out further trials with the Oerlikon Contraves Skyshield camp-protection system (CPS) in February and March 2007 in support of its Gryphan C-RAM (Counter Rocket, Artillery, Mortar) programme. Testing of new 35 mm AHEAD-type programmable air-burst munitions will be the one of the important aspects of the trial.
