Bases and stations: It's time to integrate the fifth element

Article Abstract:

The US Marine Corps unveiled a plan to reorganize command of its bases and stations with the aim of transforming an isolated resource management model into a regionalized system that forces operational commanders to focus on developing training and tactics for the 21st century force. An overview of the fifth element of the US Marine air-ground task forces (MAGFTs), which is essential of the reorganization of bases and stations and better position their expeditionary forces for existing and emergent situations, is presented.

Critical thinking: A weapon for all wars

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps expects all of its officers, from the rank of sergeant up on, to have critical thinking and to foster those skills in their subordinates as stated in the performance evaluation system reports. The requirement for critical thinkers to continue to master the process of gaining and maintaining situational awareness as an aid to decision making is one that demands renewed institutional emphasis.
