British forces choose Cougar H

Article Abstract:

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has decided in 2006 to procure the Force Protection Inc (FPI) Cougar H to meet the requirement of the British forces operational in Iraq and Afghanistan, for increased protection against the roadside bombs after the armoured-vehicles review. The Cougar H 6x6 could carry upto 6 soldiers, is powered with 330 hp Caterpillar C-7 diesel engine with a road range of 965 km, and would be equipped with more enhanced side and bottom attack protection.

Dutch study range of helicopter upgrades

Article Abstract:

The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) in 2006 is looking at a wide range of modifications and upgrades for its fleet of Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopters, CH-47D Chinook, and Eurocopter Cougar Mk 2 transport helicopters which were introduced in the 1990s. The objective of the upgrade efforts is to ensure that the 55-odd helicopters continue to be operationally ready for future deployments.

'Hot and high' RN Sea King flies

The Royal Air Force's air base in Cyprus saw the flight of three upgraded the U.K. Royal Navy West and Sea King HC.4+ utility helicopters of 846 Naval Air Squadron.
