'Might' does not make mistake

Article Abstract:

The women writing a book on American servicewomen describes the involvement and success of women in the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, which comprise about 11 percent of the force, the Army rotated in the operations. Estimates reveal that about 75 percent of the Army has rotated through Iraq and Afghanistan, while only a total of 880 women who deployed to those theatres requested pregnancy discharges, 501 in FY04 and all of FY05, less than 25 percent of all female soldiers who requested pregnancy discharges in FY04 and only the first half of FY05.

Classic counterinsurgency

Article Abstract:

The US military's signature skills of firepower, maneuver, and shock action make it the most effective conventional fighting force in the world, yet the services are struggling to counter insurgency in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US military, in order to wage successful operations against insurgents, must apply the classic counterinsurgency doctrine developed by the French and the British that aims to control the target population and win its support, and not to kill people.
