Bulgarian Navy - serving Europe and NATO

Article Abstract:

The Bulgarian Navy is committed to defend national sovereignty and to protect the national interests by integrating in the NATO collective security system and taking few responsibilities with respect to the European Union (EU) security. The increasing importance of the Black Sea region for the Euro-Atlantic security system has enabled the Bulgarian Navy to enhance their contributions to the stability and security of the region as well as of NATO and the EU.

NATO and the wider Black Sea region

Article Abstract:

NATO is using operational approach and the cooperative security approach to strengthen the security and stability in the Black Sea region. The operational method uses NATO's military capabilities to support Black Sea states' efforts to fight against asymmetric threats and the cooperative security method uses the Partnership for Peace (PfP) tools and mechanisms to support and complement the existing forms of regional co-operation.

The future and international role of the Italian Navy

Article Abstract:

Some of the structural changes that the Italian Navy is undergoing in line with NATO and EU initiatives are described. Within the framework of a common European defense policy, various programmes are instigated in NATO and EU with the aim of providing concrete responses to the new threats, by strengthening military strategies.
