CAAT and mouse

Article Abstract:

The Battalion Landing Team 1's (BLT1) three Combined Antiarmour team (CAAT) task forces saw a wide range of operations ranging from convoy escort to cordon and search in Afghanistan and provided an unbeatable combination of infantry, mobility, firepower and communication assets. These task forces were perfect for the low-intensity conflict in Afghanistan and were successful due to intensive training, flexible task organization, right equipment and standing operating procedures.

Conducting expeditionary public affairs

Article Abstract:

Embedding the public affairs officers (PAOs) and commands into the Marine Division's tactical units proved to be very successful, as it countered the Iraqi propaganda attempts by having the media reporting the division's combat operations to the world. The key communication objectives, conditions for individual and unit success in the media prior to combat and tactical victories during the fight are discussed.
