Combining 1st and 2d combat engineering battalions: Should we do it again?

Article Abstract:

The combining of 1st and 2d combat engineering battalions (CEB) provided a capable combat engineer resource during the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Some of the challenges, major issues and problems faced by combining the combat battalions and attaching them to regimental combat teams (RCTs) are discussed.

Article Abstract:

The brutal fight at Khe Sahn, Republic of Vietnam in 1967- 1968 between Marines and soldiers of the North Vietnamese Army was an example of a typical seasoned Marine combat. A poignant episode of combat as seen through the eyes of a young Marine rifle company commander.
