CMC remains concerned about modernization

Article Abstract:

The US Marine Corps' commandant remains committed to modernization funding for the Corps. In the commandant's recent posture statement delivered before the Armed Services Committee of the Senate, he called attention to the various examples of the problematic situations confronting the Corps, including infrastructure accounts and aviation. The commandant cited equipment that have reached or surpassed their expected service lives, including the assault amphibious vehicle and the reverse osmosis water purification unit. A similar problem confronts the Marine Corps' aviation assets as its CH-46E, CH-53D, KC-130F and UH-1N have all reached or surpassed the expected service lives.
