CVF programme awaits Main Gate date

Article Abstract:

The representatives from the Aircraft Carrier Alliance, the contractors for the UK Royal Navy's Futu re Aircraft Carrier (CVF) programme, has stated that they could not set a new date for the programme's Main Gate. This milestone was initially set for end of 2003 but slipped due to an extension to the assessment phase and will not be taken until 2006.

UK government gives go-ahead for Royal Navy aircraft carrier build

The article discusses the sanctioning of the two 65,000-ton aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy by the U.K. government. The aircrafts would cost up to GBP3.9 billion (USD8 billion) and are expected to be in service in 2014 and 2016.
