Article Abstract:

The various proposals included in the new defense white paper, which emphasize the aim of the PeopleEs Liberation Army (PLA) of enabling China to have an army with fewer, better troops for implementing the military strategic principle of active are described. The appointment of professional soldiers to key positions and promise of increasing funds shows leadership preparedness to re-emphasize the task of military reform.

China modernizes missile force

Article Abstract:

China successfully test-launched medium-range missile Dong Feng-21 (DF-21) missile with multiple warheads in December 2002. DF-21 has a target of about 1,800km, is more difficult to intercept than its short-range alternatives, and is capable of carrying a much larger payload.
