Settling house in Middleton's 'Women Beware Women.'(Thomas Middleton)

Article Abstract:

Thomas Middleton's tragedy 'Women Beware Women' depicts the setting up of households in a way that anticipates in the incidents the destined falls which are to take lace. Houses provide a framework for the action as when Leantio and Binaca come home and then go to Livia's house. Also in the dissolution of Leantio's home which results in the setting up of new menages. The staged and literal representations of households examine the structural, thematic, and dramaturgical uses of houses, household stuff, and housewifery in 'Women Beware Women.'
