Gladiator enters the UGV arena

Article Abstract:

The US Unmanned Ground Vehicles/Systems Joint Project Office is testing two versions of the Gladiator unmanned ground vehicle. The Gladiator is armor-resistant to 7.62mm gun fire and has been tested with payloads such as a medium machine-gun, anti-personnel obstacle breaching system and lightweight chemical agent detector.

US Navy plans to equip its fighters with SAR pods

Article Abstract:

The US Navy is planning to award a development contract to equip its F-14D aircraft with as synthetic-aperture radar pod for reconnaissance and targeting. The pod would aid in targeting threats in poor weather and visibility conditions.

Comanche cancellation frees up billions in US army funding for other programs

Article Abstract:

The US Army has decided to cancel development of the Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche armed scout helicopter to devote funds to other necessary programs, due to which the cancellation costs are expected to be US$450 million and US$680 million. The service thus replaces and modernizes its current helicopter fleet to increase aircraft survivability, sustainability and operability and hopes to apply specific technologies from Comanche.
