Coming full circle: Replacing the 9mm with the .45 caliber pistol

Article Abstract:

Reports of the subpar performance of the 9mm cartridge M9 Baretta sidearm in both Afghanistan and Iraq have left Marines with little confidence in the pistol. It is expected that the organization should identify the M9's inadequacies and replace it with a more capable and powerful .45 caliber Service pistol, which has received outstanding feedback from law enforcement personnel and combat veterans, also scoring at or near the top in every handgun ballistics test conducted.

Replacing the M16A2: a new rifle for the 21st century

The Marine Corps should consider replacing the M16A2 rifle with the M4A1 rifle in an effort to meet the needs of modern warfare. The M4A1 is lightweight, shorter and has the same power as the M16A2 rifle. The Marine Corps is evaluating the M4A1 rifle.
