DCN denies FREMM Raytheon missile variant

Article Abstract:

French naval shipbuilder and Fregate Europeenne Multi-Mission (FREMM) design authority DCN revealed that it has no plans to propose a variant of the Franco-Italian FREMM surface combatant, but will retain the MBDA-supplied Aster family of missiles as the main anti-air warfare (AAW) weapons system for any export FREMM variant. An air-defense derivative of FREMM is already being studied for the French Navy and it will in no way resemble the option featuring the Thales/Raytheon AAW suite.
