DSME, a new rising force in the world naval ship market

Article Abstract:

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Maritime Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) has emerged as a significant contender in the world naval ship market, with proven expertise in design and production and also strong positions in various areas. Surface combatants from 2000 ton frigates to 5500 ton destroyers are designed and constructed in DSME, which have participated in the 'Rim of the Pacific' exercises with foreign navies, including the US Navy.

Differences over acceptance of first-of-class 214: The German point of view

Dr. Klaus Borgschulte, Chairman and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, clarifies the controversial situation in which the Greek Hellenic Navy has refused to accept the first-of-class 214 Papanikolis submarines developed by the company. He states the various advantageous features of the 214 class, and believes that the problem can be resolved to enable a good working relationship.

"Leadership 2015" - A European approach to naval shipbuilding needs

The European Commission established a High Level Advisory Group for the "LeaderSHIP 2015" in January 2003, reacting to a proposal by industry to study ways to ensure and further develop the competitiveness of the European shipbuilding and ship repair industry. The European naval shipbuilders provide essential hardware for European defence strategy.
