Desert Shield/Desert Storm: ten years later

Article Abstract:

Initiation of the Desert Shield Operation in Aug 1990 led to many quick changes in the operations of the Marine Corps, as personnel were not really trained, equipped or manned to fight wars. Since 1990, training has changed to ensure that troops are ready for actual battle. An analysis of the changes made is needed.

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps is revising its close air support structure policies to determine their effectiveness and what changes might be necessary. Four types of terminal control procedures are examined, and factors for risk assessment are described.

Naval consensus on amphibious command relationships

Article Abstract:

The Navy and Marine Corps reached an understanding about the command relationship for amphibious warfare. The main goals of the understanding are effectiveness and flexibility, and the supportive and complementary roles of the commanders.
