Distributed operations

Article Abstract:

The United States is involved in a deadly and extraordinarily high stakes global war on terrorism (GWOT) and its soldiers and marines are fighting with the ruthless, adaptive and fanatical enemies in the mountains of Afghanistan, Iraq and there are signs that this war may go on for many years. The only way to win GWOT is by using distributed operations concept that seeks to maximize the Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) commander's ability to employ tactical units across the battle space to achieve favorable intelligence-driven engagements.

Marines and joint experimentation; participation in joint experimentation is an opportunity for the Marine Corps to showcase its operational concepts

Article Abstract:

The creation of the United States Joint Forces Command in 1999 has offered the Marine Corps a unique opportunity to participate in training programs with joint and coalition forces. It also permits the Corps to continue its experimentation with advanced warfare concepts.

DO platoon

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted on the initial report on a platoon that has gone through distributed operations training. The platoon, which had submitted its first report in November 2005, is conducting combat operations in Iraq.
