Article Abstract:

The Bush administration seemed uncertain about its defense budget, eventually settling for a figure only slightly higher than the Office of Management and Budget recommendation. There may be a belief that there will be significant cost savings for the military, during its transformation.

Budget truth

Article Abstract:

The new president, who takes office in January 2001, will need to face the reality that the US must give attention to its defense budget if the country is to maintain the best armed forces in the world. Various viewpoints on the budget are presented.

Defense and the shrinking surplus

The Bush administration has asked for an $18.4 billion increase in the defense budget. Unfortunately, this has been seen by some as a threat to the financial health of Social Security.
