ECM and soft-kill requirements in the littorals

Article Abstract:

The threats to ships and submarines in the littorals, very different from those in the open ocean, necessitate electronic countermeasures (ECMs) as softkill measures to complement hardkill measures both at the tactical and operational level. The different ECM means available to increase chance of survivability of an attack in the littorals are evaluated, which include the variety of jammers and decoys and special anti-torpedo countermeasures to be employed.

Sonar technology: Where we are, where we are likely to be going

Article Abstract:

The use of more complex waveforms and to treat each element, or at least each stave on an individual basis in sonar can be made possible by increasing power. The volume and cost for electronics needed to support a given type of sonar have declined dramatically, bringing lower-frequency sonar's within the financial grasp of many more Navies
