The Government Council of Foreign Affairs and National Defense (KYSEA) is the main decision-making body responsible for the issues of national defense of Greece. KYSEA's jurisdiction covers formulation of the national defense policy, approval of defense procurement programs, decision-making on issues of national defense, including declaration and cancellation of measures and status of alert and proposal to the President of the Republic.
