Article Abstract:

So-called 'eco-terrorist' incidents have grown in number, first in North America and then in Europe. The actions, brought about by environmental and animal-rights groups, vary widely. Specific actions and groups, such as the Animal Liberation Front in the UK, are discussed.

The disputed sovereignty claims in the South China Sea await a collaborative, political solution but this is a complex and ongoing process. An overview is provided on the progress made in this direction and the obstacles to such progress are examined.

Keeping the lid on Central Asia's water disputes

Many Central Asian countries are experiencing a shortage of water resources, and the problem is expected to worsen. Of particular concern, are the regions served by the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, and by the Aral Sea.
