Encroachment: The silent readiness degrader

Article Abstract:

Encroachment is any non-Department of Defense (DOD) action or constraint that causes the loss of, or restricts the use of land, air, radio frequency (RF), and sea maneuver areas required by the Marine Corps to maintain readiness. Encroachments on bases and stations, the fifth element of the Marine air-ground task force, is affecting an installation's ability to support training that is fundamental to operational readiness.

The Marine Corps TACP capability set

The Marine Corps Equipment Review Group (MCERG) examines the potential tactical air control parties (TACPs) capability requirements to win the global war on terrorism. The MCERG capability set provides an interim solution to ensure that the MAGTFs (Marine air-ground task forces) remain the most capable air-ground teams in the world.

Aviation operations in an NBC environment

Article Abstract:

Every U.S. Marine is exposed to the basic concepts of nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) warfare early in their transformation from civilian to Marine. Wearing the required protective equipment while preparing and operating in an NBC environment is time-consuming and challenging, especially for Marine pilots.
