Europe, US plan submarine rescue systems

Article Abstract:

The navies of France, Norway and the UK plan to introduce the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) at the end of 2006, the same year as the US navy's Submarine Rescue Diving and recompression System (SRDRS) is intending to become operational. Rolls-Royce is acting as a prime contractor for the NSRS under a contract awarded by the UK Defence Procurement Agency, thus acting on behalf of all three participating navies in May 2004.
