Extending the Littoral Battlespace ACTD contract awarded

Article Abstract:

General Dynamics Advanced Technology Systems Inc. (ATS) , based in Greensboro, NC, was awarded the systems engineering and integration contract worth a maximum of $19.7 million for the Extending the Littoral Battlespace Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ELB ACTD). General Dynamics ATS will collaborate with the government team lead by the Office of Naval Research and Marine Corps Systems Command in preparing and carrying out the ELB ACTD's first major systems demonstrations in March 1999/April 1999. The ELB ACTD, a joint effort of the Navy, Marine Corps and U.S. Pacific Command, aims to show an enhanced and comprehensive command and control, fires, and targeting capabilities.

The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, which was established in the mid-1990s, conducts a series of military experiments designed to enhance warfare techniques. The experiments fall into the categories of limited technical assessment, limited objective, and advanced warfighting experiments.
