Five-nation F-16 wing: European air forces expand cooperation

Article Abstract:

Fighter jet assets of five North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) nations will be pooled together in order to develop an expeditionary air wing that could be used for supporting various operations at low cost. The memorandum of understanding for establishing the European Participating Air Forces, Expeditionary Air Wing (EEAW) was signed by the alliance defense ministers of the five NATO nations consisting of Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal during the NATO summit held in Istanbul on June28-29 2004.

Allied antidote: NATO unit will defend against unconventional threats

Article Abstract:

NATO's chemical, biological radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) battalion will undergo six months of rigorous training, which will include field and command post exercises. They will conduct nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) reconnaissance, decontamination and monitoring operations providing NBC assessments and advice to NATO commanders.
