Lt Gen Helmut Willmann, Chief of the Germany Army, said the future scope of action of the German armed forces is covered by NATO's new Strategic Concept. Willmann added that compliance with the Strategic Concept requires the German Army to conduct mechanized operations, peace missions and special operations. He pointed out that mechanized combat troops would still form the core of the German Army in the future. These troops are suited for combined arms and composite force operations.
