Myanmar Navy boosts sea power with corvettes

Article Abstract:

The Myanmar Navy is replacing its obsolete PCE-827 and Admirable-class corvettes as well as its two 1960s-vintage Nawarat-class corvettes. Myanmar's ruling State Law and Order Restoration Council plans on acquiring two or three Jiangnan- or Jianghu-class frigates to help the navy in patrolling the country's extensive territorial seas and protect its maritime resources from exploration. The corvettes' details are closely guarded although it is surmised that they will be fitted with anti-submarine weapons.
