Gulf states see rise in jihadist violence

Article Abstract:

The eruption of Islamist terrorist violence in Kuwait and tensions in the southern Gulf Arab states indicate that the jihadist campaign is being expanded throughout the entire Arabian Peninsula. Despite the security operations, a well organized jihadist cell structure is established in the emirate and Kuwaitis fear that they are paying the price for being the US' staunchest ally in the Arab world.

Germany and missile defence: the dilemmas facing an ally

Article Abstract:

Germany has developed a policy of multilateral security and reliance on international institutions, such as the United Nations. The Bush administration has turned away from this view, in particular in regard to its plans for missile defense, causing a dilemma for the German government.

Gulf states push to increase self-reliance

Article Abstract:

The six member nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council are reportedly formulating plans to create defense strategies and forces of their own. These plans coincide with indications that the US may be decreasing its military presence in the Persian Gulf states.
