Halloween surprise?

Article Abstract:

The month October 2006 is said to bring in surprises wherein voters are likely to turn over control of the House of Representatives and may be the Senate too. Democrats fear that the US President George Bush would any time come with some stunning announcements that range from raising the Homeland Security Department's color-coded threat level to claiming successful aversion of a major terrorist attack, that would suddenly change the political landscape in his favor.

Inside the beltway: Disaster response

Article Abstract:

A day after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans on 12 August 2005, the Louisiana National Guard transported New Orleans residents and emergency workers to the Louisiana Superdome. The scope of the disaster, the disastrous local response and the political pummeling that followed, prompted United States President George W. Bush to propose putting United States military in charge of responding to all big domestic disasters.
