Harrier II Plus: the first STOVL strikefighter

Article Abstract:

McDonnell Aircraft & Missile Systems, a business unit of Boeing, is building the Harrier II Plus aircraft, which is the first STOVL strikefighter and is equipped with radar systems. The Harrier II Plus is being utilized by the Italian Navy, Spanish Navy and the US Marine Corps, which are deploying new-build production models. The Harrier II Plus aircraft, which is suitable for different mission types, is equipped with the AN/APG-65 radar system that allows the aircraft to achieve air-to-air capability beyond visual range and to operate under bad weather conditions.

Boeing wins race for first JSF flight

Article Abstract:

Boeing has successfully conducted the flight test of its Joint Strike Fighter concept demonstrator, the X-32A. The pilot compared the aircraft favorably with its qualities on the simulator. Boeing VP Frank Statkus believes that all throughout the program, the firm has proven what it can do rater than just talking about what it will do. The X-32A is the Convential Take Off and Landing demonstrator while the X-32B is a naval/Marine Corps variant designed for Short Take Off and Vertical Landing.

Sharper eyes, longer claws for the Tomcat

Article Abstract:

Northrop Grumman's selected F-14 Tomcats are undergoing an upgrading program that will provide the aircraft with capabilities to deploy precision-guided weaponry. The ongoing move to modify selected F-14 Tomcats into Bombcats is made to make the aircraft appropriate for and complementary with F/A-18C/D Hornets during air-to-ground missions. The upgrading program for the selected F-14 Tomcats will also equip the aircraft with strike/escort capabilities for different mission applications.
