Article Abstract:

The Navy League is finalizing its plan for the 2003 Sea-Air-Space Exposition (SAS), the worldEs largest naval exposition. The SAS brings together senior leaders from the sea services and Department of Defenses, U.S. and allied industry executives, foreign naval/military delegations and the New Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to discuss the acquisition and research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) priorities of the sea services.

Commissioning of USS Ronald Reagan gives Navy one thousand tons of combat capability

Article Abstract:

Former Lady Nancy Reagan attended the commissioning ceremony of the USS Ronald, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier (CVN) that is named after the United States' 40th president Ronald Reagan, in July 2003 at the Norfolk, Virginia, Naval Station. USS Ronald Reagan, the ninth of the Navy's Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, is technologically advanced and more combat-capable because of several structural innovations and new equipment systems.

Electric warship heralds evolution in weapon technologies

Article Abstract:

The US NavyEs first integrated electric power system (IPS)/electric drive warship, the DD(X) would arrive in 2011. Its arrival would mark a technological breakthrough that will signal new era for naval engineering and provide huge amounts of electrical power for uses such as free electron lasers, high-powered microwaves, and electromagnetic rail guns.
