Finding the next Higgins boat

Article Abstract:

Just as the Higgins landing boat helped win World War II, the modern Marines are faced with the challenge of finding today's 'Higgins boat.' For the Marines, the reengineering plans lead toward increased information management, and improved logistics.

Innovations in command and control for tactical logistics units

Article Abstract:

A restructuring is taking place in the Marine Corps, and logistics is one of the key elements involved in the change. The logistical changes, as they affect the Marine air-ground task force, are discussed.

An imperative for change: The case for logistics modernization

Article Abstract:

LtGen Richard L. Kelly, Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (DC I&L) asked his team to conduct an objective, independent assessment of logistic modernization in order to determine whether the initiative was moving Marine Corps logistics in the right direction and what adjustments were needed. It was concluded that new and innovative logistics processes and systems should be implemented to make up logistics modernization.
