SP vs. towed artillery: a cost-effectiveness comparison

Article Abstract:

Towed artillery (TA) continues to have significant applications in combat situations, even though self-propelled (SP) artillery dominates articles and analyses on modern development trends in the artillery sector. TA continues to hold its ground as against SP artillery when entire units' cost-effectiveness is utilized as the basis of comparison. While it cannot be denied that SP artillery enjoys a niche in modern battlefield operations, TA continues to be applicable for modern combat function, especially in cases when the range of firing is increased to as much as 40 kilometers during combat situations.
