LRLAP test successes advance prospects for naval fire support

Article Abstract:

Successful test flights of the Long-Range Land-Attack Projectile (LRLAP) developed for the Advanced Gun System that BAE Systems is developing for the DD(X) has resulted in Lockheed Martin bagging a contract worth $120 for further development and testing. The LRLAP is expected to enable the DD(X) support military operations with great force and minimum collateral damage and full-rate production of the projectile is scheduled to begin in 2011.

Naval forces begin return home as war in Iraq subsidies

Article Abstract:

The Navy submarines and ships that launched strikes into Iraq or landed Marines ashore in the Operation Iraqi Freedom is returning to their homeports as Iraq resistance fell to a low level. The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit deployed since August 2002 on ships of the USS Nassau Amphibious Ready Group has boarded ships for their return after the completion of combat operations in Iraq.
