UK sonar selection could end future competition

Article Abstract:

Thomson Marconi Sonar Ltd (TMSL) has been awarded by the UK Ministry of Defence a contract with a collective value of about $286 million for the delivery of Sonar 2087 anti-submarine sonar and Sonar 2193 minehunting sonar system. Industry analysts believe that the award of both contracts to the company will deter sonar makers in the US from bidding for future UK projects. This include the upcoming Surface Ship Torpedo Defence Programme.
