Three detailed maps are provided: a US map of active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and unified combat command bases called 'Army Power Projection Forces'; a US map of Guard and Reserve bases called 'Army Mobilization Forces'; and 'Forward Deployed Units' bases in Germany, Belgium, Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico, Kuwait, and Italy.

Our Purple Heart heritage

Article Abstract:

A history of the Purple Heart award is presented. The award, which is given for military merit, was started by Gen. George Washington during the Revolutionary War, then reinstated after World War I. Gen. Douglas MacArthur redesigned the award and expanded the criteria to include wounded soldiers.
