Seapower/Reserves

Article Abstract:

The importance of the Naval Reserve has continued to grow in terms of its assistance to the Navy as the latter conducts its missions. The Ready Reserve is the core group of the Naval Reserve, which is the main manpower pool for the rapid mobilization of officers and enlisted personnel. The Ready Reserve is composed of about 94,000 personnel, roughly 78,000 of which are reservists who participate on a part-time basis and 16,000 of which are personnel who are on full-time active duty.

The jungle of the 21st century

Article Abstract:

The once obscure Marine Corp has evolved within the 20th century to one of the most prominent and respected branches of the Armed Forces. Despite budget constraints that have given it problems in the area of modernization and infrastructure, morale is high at the Corp and it is preparing to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Marines are frequently called in most overseas crises involving the US and deployed units maintain a high state of readiness.
