Maritime threat: Tactics and technology of the Sea Tigers

Article Abstract:

The Sea Tigers, the naval wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, present a major challenge for the counterinsurgency authorities. The tactics and technology currently used by this Sri Lankan rebel group, which is the most successful non-state navy in the world, are discussed, and the implications of maritime insurgency are evaluated.

Government faces crisis in wake of Colombo attack

Article Abstract:

The Tamil Tigers attacked Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka, causing a number of airlines to consider canceling their flights to that country. In addition, it seems likely that insurance premiums for the airlines will rise sharply if they continue their flights.

Military defeats lead to new round of Norway-sponsored negotiations

Norway continues to attempt a peace settlement in Sri Lanka, between the government and the rebel group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Prior to a renewal of negotiations, both sides are attempting gain a military advantage.
