Modern navigation system improves safety on the sea

Article Abstract:

The development of Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS) has greatly improved the navigation safety of naval and merchant ships. It also draws nearer the possibility of reduced ship personnel, maintenance and life cycle cost. The US Navy seems to be the most committed among the world's modern navies to the adoption of IBS. This commitment is manifested by a series of IBS experiments that resulted in the SmartShip Project.
