NATO forces in Afghanistan focus on pre-empting militant spring offensive

Article Abstract:

NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan hopes to pre-empt the militant offensive once spring arrives around March 2007 and attempts are on to win the Afghan people's hearts and minds so that they do not lend support to the militants. But ISAF's best efforts could be negated by the continuing ability of militants to cross the Afghan-Pakistan border as well as by the state corruption and lack of government authority.
