The Taliban lost the war in Afghanistan, but still bedevils coalition efforts to establish security

Article Abstract:

The Taliban inspite loosing the war in Afghanistan overran government compound in Khakeran, burning it down and killing several policemen. However, since March 2005 Lt. Jed Richard and his men of 2nd Platoon, B Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, are busy training the Afghan National Army unit, building school, hiring teachers, holding medical clinics and establishing rapport with local leaders.

Promoting the Air Force: The service must reinforce its role as the joint-force enabler

Article Abstract:

The 2005 Quadrennial Defense Review will guide a major revision of US defense policy, as it will aim at applying the resulting mix to the near-term war on terrorism while also addressing long-term threats. The Air Force offers capabilities that are essential to joint operations from close-air-support such as the A-10, to the interdiction and the precision strike missions performed by the F/A-22.
