NATO reaction force learns final lessons

Article Abstract:

The US Army's Major General Gary Harrell, deputy chief of staff operations at JFC Brunssum, shares his experience of serving as the forward commander during Steadfast Jaguar, leading the Deployable Joint Task Force headquarters that is based afloat on the US Navy's command-and-control flagship USS Mount Whitney off the Cape Verde islands. He revealed that concisely, the exercise is to validate the NATO Reaction Force (NRF) concept, to take the NRF, move it to a crisis location, communicate with everybody involved and to conduct operations.

Mini-Typhoon blows over Australian frigates

Article Abstract:

The Royal Australian navy (RAN) in 2006 has introduced the Mini-Typhoon lightweight remote weapon station and associated TopLite electro-optical director to improve the force protection capability of surface ships deploying to the Northern Arabian Gulf. The Mini-Typhoon variant procured for use by the RAN combines an M2HB0.5 cal machine gun with an on-mount sighting system comprising an Opgal fixed of view uncooled microbolometer infrared camera and a CCD camera with continuous 10x zoom.

Live firing tests rewrite the guiding principles

The high-seas firing events have proved the performance of both the I/J-band Active Phased Array Radar (APAR) multifunction radar and the interrupted continuous-wave illumination (ICWI) missile guidance technique. The design and development of the advanced anti-war warfare system (AAWS) and the ICWI guidance concept are discussed.
