Naval progress toward ballistic missile defence

Article Abstract:

The US Navy has launched a program to provide theater ballistic missile defense (TBMD) from ships in view of the proliferation of ballistic missiles worldwide. TBMD systems at sea are designed to be mobile, flexible, highly relocatable and able to operate for long periods without host-nation support. Two separate TBMD systems are being developed by the US Navy through modification of the AEGIS weapon system.

A naval ballistic missile defense solution for Europe?

Article Abstract:

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has several options to counter the growing threat of Theater Ballistic Missile (TBM) from hostile nations such as North Korea and Iraq. The US Navy is developing Theater Ballistic Missile Defenses (TBMD) for its fleet, with the first phase already underway. Other possible components of a NATO naval TBMD include the UK's MESAR radar and EUROSAM or PAAMS missiles.

Anti-ship missiles - few competitors in a tight market

Article Abstract:

The global market for anti-ship surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs) continues to be dominated by Aerospatiale's Exocet and McDonnell Douglas' Harpoon. Twenty years ago, the prominent competitors for SSMs market included Otomat, Sistel and Gabriel. Among the SSMs still trying to establish themselves in the market are Sweden's RBS-15 and the C-801/802 from China and the Kh-25/Yakhont from Russian.
