Navy Leaguers play key role in successful ship commissionings

Article Abstract:

The Navy depends on the Navy League, on various corporate sponsors, and on civic-minded individuals to provide much of the funding, coordination work and publicity that is necessary for the first-rate ship commissioning. The assistance provided by the Navy league in the commissioning of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS 'McCampbell' and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS 'Shoup' are described.

Outfitting the operating force: MPF equips marines for Operation Iraqi Freedom

Article Abstract:

Two squadrons of Maritime Propositioning Force (MPF) ships were ordered to the Kuwati port of Ash ShuEayabah in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The biggest limitation of the MPF concept is cited as the need for a benign port to offload supplies, primarily containers.

Article Abstract:

The Navy Leaguer has documented the different ways in which the Navy League has supported the sea services and a strong U.S. national defense program. Navy Leaguers also donated bags full of Christmas gifts that were shipped to sea-service personnel stationed in Europe.
